Where the MP money goes
Extraordinary credits are expenses opened by MP outside the approved Budget. Under LC 200/2023, they fall outside the fiscal framework's spending limit, but they increase the deficit.

How Contraponto works
Fact and opinion kept apart, sources for everything and public corrections when we get it wrong.
Fact and opinion
Each file has two parts. The fact describes what the official act says, with the date and a link to Congress, the Official Gazette or the agency in charge. Contraponto's analysis comes separately, marked in red, and expresses our reading, from the opposition.
Proposals reported by the press but still without official text appear as "under study" and are not treated as decisions.
Editorial line
Contraponto is center-right. On the economy, it supports fiscal responsibility, a lean and efficient State, lower taxes and less red tape, free enterprise, competition and legal certainty for those who work and produce. On values, it supports the family, public security and a firm fight against crime, the rule of law, freedom of expression and respect for taxpayers' money.
Taking sides does not change the method: the facts always come separately and with a source, and we acknowledge when the government gets it right. Oversight is not rooting against the country; it is demanding results.
Corrections
If you find a factual error, let us know. We correct it and record the correction in the file itself.
